Biography 

Background

Paul's musical journey began when he was inspired by 'The Eagles' playing 'Hotel California' live in Australia, 1994. He enrolled himself in classical guitar lessons and achieved ABRSM grade 5 before switching to electric guitars. Classic rock bands such as Guns N' Roses, Scorpions, Metallica, Iron Maiden and HK legendary band Beyond inspired him to form several cover bands and performed in various gigs. Thereafter he formed his current band - Sound Addiction 音瘾 (formerly known as Sound Alchemy) and has since been active in the local chinese music scene for the past 20 years. 

Being a singer-songwriter and guitar enthusiast, Paul never stopped in exploring the guitar and that curiosity led him to compose original music with his band. Over the years, his band performed in many events and the most memorable gig they had performed was at Esplanade, alongside with China's greatest rock band - Black Panther (黑豹乐队) during the Hua Yi Festival 2004. In 2006, the band produced and released their debut album [TIME] and Paul is currently working with his band to produce their long-awaited 2nd album. 

One-to-One Guitar Lesson 

Paul is well-known to his family and friends as a passionate guitar player. From the many sessions he had with friends he tutored privately, he realised that one of the greatest mistakes a guitar teacher often makes is not providing a structured and customised lesson plan for each student.  

"Teachers often adopt a 'one-size-fits-all' approach when it comes to teaching his students, and obviously this doesn't work. Guitar lessons should be tailored to an individual and that's why I strongly believe in one-to-one tutoring instead of group teaching. I have spent much time designing my teaching material and it also means I am ready to provide my students with what they need, when they need it based on their strengths and weaknesses” - Paul Hoe
